Newsletter #1

Dear Internet friend,  

I don't know about you but I just hate being addressed as "Dear Internet Friend"  - the way many newsletters and emails land in my inbox. The way many sales pages are written. I am not their friend - I'm simply on their list probably because I downloaded a freebie from their site - like you did from mine. Not sure what the answer is... auto responders will insert the name you signed up with but I will sometimes  use Yom instead of Tom just to see if I get put on other list:) Anyway I won't address you as "Dear Internet Friend" - promise.

If you want to know a bit more about me just hop over to www.thomasdean.com my personal/family site - a work in progress with a lot of humor in the family newsletter - it's funny to us at least. For anyone from Canada - we really enjoyed our trip to Niagara Falls - especially the wineries. You have a beautiful country side. There a some nice pictures on the site - I like the one of me with the horse.

Ok... on to viral marketing. The site (hope you like it) here was launched on 5/23/05 along with the offer for a free adsense website. You can see the results along with the other techniques on the Current Stats page. Check the Techniques page for more info. I think these are good results for the time frame - however I have nothing to compare it to since it was my first effort. 

The ebooks/offers etc were placed in 3 different forums. The Warriors Forum had the best results by a landside. The free adsense website offer resulted in the most sign ups - you had to subscribe to get the website. I was surprised by the number of signups through the ebooks though. 

One thing to note is that after the offers drop down a few listings or a page in the forums they basically quit producing. Fresh offers do well, then slow down. If someone makes a good comment bringing the offer back to the top of the forum the offer begins to produce again. It will interesting to see if any of the ebooks get shared and produce residual signups.

Overall I think this first effort was a success. It did not cost anything to do. I made the website - the ebooks were free. I used FrontPage for the site and ebok edit pro to put the free ebooks into my own ebook that was setup like a mini newsletter. See an example here - just choose run and you can view it online. Oh yea - the 40 webmaster tools ebook that is branded did cost $40. The neat thing about it is that you can brand it as many different times as you want & you can change the content of the website that the "online ideas" tab links to. This is an example of something that has made us nearly $100 since we posted it to the site. Even if you choose not to re-brand it you should download it to see the technique. Next month - the surprise niche ebook that will include a re-brander will be ready. This is an original ebook - graphic and site, free to subscribers - it includes Master Resell Rights. Article Booster should be installed soon - a review will be coming along with a review on Article Fetcher and where to get them. Both will be used as adsense tools but we will explore other uses for the software. If I get it done the Products page and Products for Newbies page should be live and feature some great deals on products from The Warriors Alliance private forum that we were lucky enough to get in. I want to "report" on my experience with this alliance but first need to see just exactly what I can discuss. Our little site has moved up in Alexa ratings and has a page rank  of #1 for the phrase Tom Dean lol.
