In This Issue

To many freakin emails - to much hype  & a little rant.

Welcome to our new members

There are some new PLR items in the members area, a new adsense site for you to download and the usual special offer at the top of the page. Enjoy.

A few things I have learned over the past few months...

If you have been involved with "Internet Marketing" for long, no doubt you have received a ton of emails over the last few months pitching everything including the kitchen sink. They will lead you to believe that this is easy. If you can copy and paste you can be rich.  It's email overload hyped with lines like.

This won't last - He's Gone Mad
Would You Spend $10 to Make Millions
Teenage Prodigy Making $10,000 per week cracks and reveals "His Secret" at last to a select 1,000 people (Why? lol)
I can't afford a birthday present for my wife so I am letting my "Secret Technique" to earn thousands from adsense go for $10 (and you can't afford a present?).

The Butterfly Marketing Launch was huge, no doubt it's a nice script but you see every one using it now basically in the form of a squeeze page, a cheap product or what have you followed by a one time offer. The OTO is generally just rehashed or repackaged PLR items.  You don't need a $1,000 script to handle any of this including your membership site, email list or payment gateway. If you can afford it great but you can do fine without it or by using a less pricey script.

Speaking of PLR items, they are ok for website content provided you rewrite them some or use them for list builders. Some of the info is actually good for those new to the subject matter. But for the most part there is so much of it sold in such large quantities that they have lost their value. It will be on ebay for pennies soon anyway despite what they may put in the terms of service.

Adsense. The bottom seems to have kinda fell out of adsense earnings, all the tools to create spam sites , auto blogging, rss, you name it are less effective. Slinging sites all over the web does not earn what it used to. I have seen earnings fall 50%. You can still do well if you are ready to pound down some cappuccinos and stay up all night building sites that will get listed, earn some money then fall out of the search engines then... do it again. I still make $200 to $400 just making a few sites here and there from plr content and posting free sites that people give away but it is just a small part of what you need to make a living online.

So what do you do to make a buck online?

Here is the short list.

Sell plr products and adsense sites to all those people who still want them. There are people coming online daily and this seems to be the first things they purchase in the work from home make a buck online crowd. Use pay per click and click bank to do it. A fairly decent product with a good amount of affiliates can make some money.

If you have the upfront money, talent or resources start a membership site. These can gross a large amount of cash when promoted heavily using affiliates with large list. Just know that you will need the skill to setup the affiliate/membership program or the money to outsource it and the time to manage the help desk and their will be plenty of members that need your help :) You will need to be known in the right forums and know the right people to get some joint ventures from the people with a large list. Not an overnight process. Be prepared to see the site die on the vine. Your members will likely be short lived and leave for the next big membership site that comes along. Time to build a new one.

Adsense - build a real website with real content for a targeted sought after niche. Sell advertising spots from it and embed affiliate links to products the visitors want. Be prepared to hire ghost writers for exclusive content, work your tail off on seo, add content regularly and wait many months to get it profitable.

Affiliate programs can make money. In fact other than selling unique websites on ebay, this has been the most profitable source of online money for me. No headaches (well not to many), often no website. The programs that use split payments are the best imho. You get paid instantly. If the program is for a membership site that's great, you will have recurring payments every month. You will need to buy the product or membership in most cases but that's fine it's being paid for you from your sales. This site makes a few hundred every month from the click bank affiliate links spread throughout the site. With the membership affiliate programs be prepared as mentioned above to se the members leave after a while. You may start out making $2,000 a month from a particular membership affiliate program then 3 to 6 months later you are down to $200 a month.

Make or have made your own product for a hungry market. Remember the market/need must come first then the product. Don't waste your time making a product no one wants. You could improve on an existing product that you think is great but needs more features. Prepare to have some money to get it made, promote it, JV it and support it and all the emails your help desk (yes Virginia you will need a help desk) will get. Not to mention copy cats will come along and eventually the product will likely need updating, it may quit working due to a change in something beyond your control, now you need the programmer (where did he go?) to fix it. Hmmmm

The bottom line...

Making money online is not easy, but it can be done

Don't believe all the hype. It is used to appeal to the do nothing get rich mentality (and it works for the seller - not the buyer).
There are good products out there with good information, look for them in genuine reviews or ask from trusted sources in forums.
Be prepared for hard work and know you will have to spend some money to get started.

The one thing you must have is...

A LIST !

If you have no one to promote to you will have no sales. PPC is fine but a targeted list interested in the affiliate programs or products you promote is essential. The best tool and information I have seen for learning how to build your list is Jimmy Browns List and Traffic

Yes this is an affiliate link but this course comes highly recommended from many people. Ask around in the forums what is the best way/tool to learn to build a list and the bulk of the answers will be List and Traffic for $10 it certainly gets my vote. I paid $197 for a List Dot Com membership upgrade in return I can email 5,000 people every other day. My return on investment - $110. Using just one technique with List and traffic I have a list of 1,400. I send an email once a month or less. My return? A few thousand in product and affiliate sales and this is done on a very part-time basis right now.

Of course you need to have a squeeze page (sign up page) a site for your members to visit or at least a blog with a newsletter. Ideally both. PLR rights product that can be given away or turned into adsense sights to offer as a signup are good list builders. Give your members some value. Visit forums and participate, write articles, lead everything back to your site or squeeze page. My site is just butt ugly (still working on that) but it gets traffic that goes largely unmonetized due to a lack of time on my part right now. But fall is coming the kids started school today and I will be more active shortly and... just behind this site is the new site. A little more tweaking and it will be ready.

Hopefully this article will help someone new. Spend your money wisely for your online ventures and take care. There are many items in the members area you can use as list builders.

Sincerely,

Tom
