“Just Send Traffic”

One of the problems with otherwise excellent products for newbies is the statement “just send traffic” or promote to your list”. Fact is most newbies do not know how to generate traffic nor do they have a list.

You see this all the time in sales letters targeted to newbies. The product gives you everything you need to sell but…

A List or Traffic.

Unless you know how to get a top 5 spot on the first page of google for a popular search term you won’t get many sales from organic search engine traffic.

You could buy traffic through adwords but most new people have a shoestring budget. They don’t have the time or $500 to tweak and test an adwords campaign until it is converting at a profitable level. It’s not so simple as bidding on a few keywords and crossing your fingers hoping for the best.

Here is a basic way to get some traffic and start to build your list on the cheap.

Blog – get a wordpress blog up and start blogging. Blogs are seo friendly by nature and search engines love fresh content. Use the All In One seo plugin. Post at least once a week. Join My Blog Log and use a social book marking plugin. Make sure your have an easy to see opt-in box on the first page of your blog.

Forum Marketing – participate in the popular forums and get your sig line in front of a few eyes. Have it lead to a squeeze page that offers a free product or ecourse.

Article Marketing  - submit some articles to ezine articles or go articles and have your authors bio box lead back to your blog. This will get you some traffic and back links. The first article I wrote has been downloaded 100’s of times and used on 100’s of websites for content. Submit just one a week and you are on your way.

Use free ebook sites and sections in forums to offer a quality ebook branded with your sites url. If they allow use a squeeze page to offer the freebie.

The first 1,000 subscribers to this newsletter were from the above techniques.

Hope this gives you a start. Your list won’t grow itself and nothing happens until you do something. I started with a blog and the stuff above. Subscribers slowly trickled in and soon (about 4 months) I had nearly 1,000 subscribers. When you have 2,000 or more you can start to participate in Joint List Building Ventures and really see your subscriber base take off.
