Economic Troubles Can Mean Increased Sales

Bad Times

A recent day in my life...

  • Filled up the Expedition $92
  • Filled Up The Crown Vic - $62
  • Went to the grocery store for dinner and a few staples (this was not even the weekly shop) $82
  • Visited Home Depot for a water hose, sprinkler & some Round Up $74

Wow! This was a fairly typical day. If you start to add in expenses for braces, Catholic School, vacation and rising utilities, insurance, cell phones, cable etc...

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out a $100/$150 thousand a year salary or combined household income is not that much these days.

SUV sales are in the gutter and the plants that make them are closing.

To be continued (bed time).

Ok I'm awake, need to remember I'm not in my 20's (My AARP Card Came Last Week) & two cocktails will "put me to sleep".

Anyway...

Stuff cost more. People are talking abut it in the Grocery store, at the gas pump and online - blogs, forums etc.

Below is a screen cap of search volume for the term how to save money.

Save Money Search Volume

People look to save money and they look to boost their income through part-time employment online and offline.

The amount of new comers (newbies) in search of a way to make money online from home on a part time basis is likely to see a sharp increase.

This is a perfect time to cater to this crowd. If you can position your goods and services in front of them it could result in some extra profits for you.

You will need to offer them something that works and is tailored towards their new comer knowledge and budget. People will pitch them things like Product Launch Formula or Eban Pegans latest Mastermind program.

and... they will get sales from the desperate who just maxed out a Visa after being hypnotized by a well crafted sales letter.

These courses are not bad but they will set up a new comer up for failure - they are most likely not at a level to make use of these products yet.

Wouldn't it be better to sell the basics, help them get started, even answer a few emails with some solid real world advice?

Do that and you will gain a customer and a relationship vs a one time sale.

Have a look at some stats from the Stompernet Blog (no affiliation).

" Gas prices are at an all time high. So much so, that rather than fill up when they need to, incidents of people running out of gas WHILE DRIVING are up 400%.

Food prices are climbing drastically. Restaurants are altering their menus to stay profitable, and grocery stores are having to scale back on variety because people aren't buying as much.

The U.S. Department of Labor says that over 80,000 Americans have lost jobs so far THIS YEAR. And it's not confined to any particular industry - cutbacks are happening across the board.

Bankruptcy filings are up 50% this year, and of course you've heard about the skyrocketing foreclosure rate nationwide. "

Interesting stuff.

This link was in the email received from Stompernet. I don't know and am not affiliated with this program. I have posted it so you can have a look at the way they do their video.

Obviously they are selling something but check out the compelling video and the buttons it pushes. http://blog.worldwidebrands.com/ They are speaking straight to those worried about the recession and offering a "recession proof" solution (whatever it is).

Providing answers and solutions to new comers - making them aware of some things they may want to steer clear of and selling tools and services (not pipe dreams) that can help them on their way...

I would say this is a good time for that imho.
